  • Approved earthing layout and single line diagram
  • Equipment and structures to be bonded
  • Specified conductor, electrode and jointing materials
  • Known underground services and safe excavation information
  • Soil or site information required by the designer
  • Project test method and acceptance criteria

Protect access and traceability

The installation should allow inspection and testing at the locations identified by the design. Underground joints, routes and terminations need to be recorded before they are concealed. Civil protection and identification should remain consistent with the project drawings.

Measured results are influenced by the system arrangement and site conditions. Acceptance should therefore be evaluated against the approved design, applicable standards and authority requirements. A single generic resistance value is not an appropriate substitute for project engineering.

Plan periodic verification

Handover records should identify test locations, method, instrument and results. The asset owner should retain the final layout and establish periodic inspection or testing suited to the installation, operating environment and legal requirements.
