Complete installation checks first

  • Verify panel identification, ratings and arrangement against approved drawings.
  • Inspect mounting, access, ventilation, segregation and cable entries.
  • Confirm terminations and mechanical connections against manufacturer requirements.
  • Check protective earthing and bonding before electrical tests.

Use an approved test plan

Insulation, continuity, phase sequence, control supply, interlocks, indication, metering and protective functions should be checked where applicable. Test instruments need suitable range and current calibration status. Test values and acceptance criteria must come from the approved specification, equipment manufacturer and applicable standards, not from a generic checklist.

Protection settings and changes should be authorised and recorded. Energisation should proceed only after open observations are assessed, required approvals are available and the responsible authority has released the system.

  • Instrument identification and calibration reference
  • Measured results and specified acceptance criteria
  • Protection settings and functional observations
  • Open items, rectification and final acceptance
  • Names, dates and signatures required by the project plan
